Almy, Marion M. 1976 - Survey and Assessment of Known Archaeological Sites in Sarasota County, Florida.
Abstract: Seeing the results of rapid urban expansion on the non-renewable archaeological resource base, the Sarasota County Historical Commission welcomed and utilized the results of a 1975 archaeological internship. The resulting thesis focused on the identification, evaluation and preservation of 84 prehistoric sites. Previously recorded sites were visited and re-examined, and previous research was reviewed. As a result, a nine category data bank or Site Evaluation Summary was developed, a preservation plan was prepared, and a research design for future surveys was created. After testing and refinement, the county implemented portions of the plan.
