Johnson, William Gray, May 1986 - THE ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE GREEN SWAMP: A PREDICTIVE MODEL FOR A SWAMP ENVIRONMENT

Abstract: A number of archaeological surveys have been conducted in the Green Swamp but little has been done with site location predictive models. Using data from other models, several environmental characteristics were chosen as likely predictors of high, medium and low probability areas for archaeological site locations. These characteristics proved more useful for predicting high, medium and low probability areas for types of sites rather than simply site locations. Thus, a model incorporating archaeological site types and their associated environmental characteristics was created for this swamp environment.
