McCullough, David L., December 1980 - A CULTURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AT THE FLETCHER AVENUE PARK, HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLORIDA

Abstract: The program of cultural resource management at the Hillsborough County Fletcher Avenue Park was conducted by the University of South Florida Department of Anthropology in 1977 and 1978. Five archaeological sites, 8-Hi-458, 8-Hi-459, 8-Hi-460, 8-Hi-461 and 8-Hi-462, were identified and documented during a survey of the property in 1977. Two of the sites, 8-Hi-458 and 8-Hi-459, were determined not to be significant. Insufficient data was collected for an accurate assessment of site significance at the remaining three sites, and additional archaeological testing at the sites was recommended. Testing was designed to produce cultural-historical information about the park's cultural resources for use in on-site public displays. An accurate assessment of site significance was also completed. Although the three sites were determined not to be significant, recommendations were made to park developers for the long-term protection of the park's cultural resources.
