Primo, John (MA). A qualitative analysis: Implications for community participation in lake management, Hillsborough County, FL. (Greenbaum), 2002. This thesis examines the impact of suburbanization on residential lake environments of Hillsborough County, Florida. It seeks to demonstrate the benefits of citizen participation in water resource management. More specifically, it seeks to identify the various ways in which Hillsborough’s waterside residents can aid the heavily burdened governmental bodies in sustainably managing the county’s lakes. The investigator used self-administered surveys and in-depth interviews to gain an understanding of the concerns and knowledge of Hillsborough’s lakeside residents. The concerns and knowledge identified may aid the management agencies to address better the needs of its constituents and bolster lake area management by bringing residents directly into the management process.
