Puccia, Ellen. 1998. COLLABORATION IN RESEARCH: A GRADUATE STUDENT’S ACCOUNT OF A UNIVERSITY-COMMUNITY COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP

Abstract: This thesis is a self-reflective narrative account of the collaborative process involved in completing a National Science Foundation grant. It includes an analysis of the success of a university/community college research partnership in forming a collaborative relationship. Analysis proceeds from a framework of five factors for success in collabortion based upon a review of related literature: clearly defined common goals, developing a sense of community, clearly defining roles and responsibilities, maintaining equality, and clearly defining a governing structure. Success is determined in two ways: creating a relationship which helps progression of the project, and completing the research project.
